THINK ABOUT THIS: How many of us take more pleasure in what our body “looks” like than in what the Bible says about it? Could this be “body worship?” Or could our body be an idol? Anything that we put above Yahweh in our thoughts and actions is an idol? I believe some exercise is good, but in the Scriptures, Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament, says in 1Timothy 4:8, “Bodily exercise profits little; but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
Let us take more time and effort to keep ourselves spiritually fit. Bodily fitness has a limited value, but spiritual fitness is of unlimited value, for it holds promise both for this present life and for the life to come.
Do we put more value on our physical body above who we are in the spirit? Is it because we think: “that is all there is to us?” We are three part beings: spirit, soul, and body. Once “born again” from above by the Spirit of Yahweh (read John 3), we are spirit first (Titus 3:5), we have a soul (consists of our will, mind, emotions), and we live in a body. We must take care of our body because it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yahweh has created us with wonderful bodies. See 1Corinthians 3:16,17. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” There is no doubt about this at all. It is the truth that we can completely except, and live by. John 17:17
The spiritual part of the believer is of paramount value because the Father our Creator, who is a Spirit, could not be known, nor could one fellowship with Him. We place all our hopes upon the living God,Yahweh and His Word to us. This knowledge should be the conviction and basis of our instruction.
We can not pick and choose what we believe of the Bible. We are to live by what the Word of God says; the whole council of Yah. Matthew 4:4-9
The Scripture says in Matthew 16:26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul (life)?” “Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Body building and excessive exercise will not help in the big scheme of life one bit! It is more important to spend time getting to know the God of the Bible, and His will for His people by exercising our spiritual muscles. Jesus is coming back to defeat evil, not by physical means, but by the Sword of the Spirit coming out of His mouth. Ephesians 6:17  In other words, He will speak His Word to slay the evil. He is the living Word that put on flesh and came to earth to save His own from their enemies. John 1:1,14 It is a more godly attitude to care for our bodies because we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are to maintain the spiritual part of ourselves because we are of eternal value. Spending precious time reading the Bible, studying the Scriptures, and in fellowship with our Heavenly Father, is of much greater importance. What are we exchanging our soul and body for? How does this compare with eternity?
Satan loves to entrap Yahweh’s people with the “pride of life, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes. See 1John 2:15,16. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” “For all that is in the world, the lust (desire) of the flesh, and the lust (desire) of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” Verse 17, “And the world passes away, and the lust thereof; but he that does the will of Yahweh abides (lives) forever.” The enemy has the ability to distract and tempt with all kinds of worldly things. It’s the same as holding a carrot in front of a rabbit and tempting it to go for it; all the while having a trap set to catch the rabbit!
Where does lust come from? It comes from the five senses: what we see, what we hear, what we taste, what we feel, and what we smell. The devil uses these senses to tempt people. Some are allowing the senses to control what they do in life. A person who over eats is allowing the lust (desire) of the taste and smell of food to lure them! The pride of life and the lust of the eyes and flesh is behind someone’s effort to build up their body with tremendous muscles, and to enter into contests to show it off.
As I said before; there is nothing wrong with exercise, but we must be aware of the attitude of our hearts. What makes us do certain things? Is it to care for our body because the Spirit of God lives in it? Or, are we trying to impress others with the way we look? Yah is not impressed with what we look like! He looks on the inside, on the heart: but, man looks on the outward appearance.1Samuel 16:7 Yah is more concerned with how our character is develpoing, rather than with our muscle building!
How do we keep ourselves pure? We never give our heart to this world, or to the things in it. “But seek ye first the kingdom of Yahweh, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 A man cannot love the Father and love the world at the same time. For the whole world system, based as it is on men’s desires, their greedy ambitions, and the glamour of all that they think is splendid, is not come from the Father at all, but is from the world itself!
But the person who is following Yah’s will is part of eternity and cannot die. 1John 2:17 “Not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 Now this is the truth that we should live by!
This is faith cabin saying bye for now. You are blessed; believe it and live it. Love and smiles.
