Blog 47 Too Much Self

BLOG 47                      TOO MUCH SELF

Too much self! People are too concerned with themselves. This is exactly how the devil wants it. In churches today, preachers are giving self-help messages instead of giving their congregations life by teaching the Word of God. God’s Word is life and health to the whole body. In Proverbs 4: 20-24 We are told to attend to His Word. God knows what we need. His Word is needed to lead and guide us to all truth by the Holy Spirit. The devil wants everyone to be preoccupied with themselves and to be unconcerned with what is going on around them! The world says, “what you don’t know, won’t hurt you.
The Bible says in Hosea 4:6…, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” What do you believe? Do you believe God’s Word or do you believe satan’s lie?
As God’s children, you are to live by the knowledge of the Word of God, the Scriptures. John 8:32 You are to consider the truth of God’s Word and to be led by the Spirit of Truth (the Holy Spirit) in all matters. See Galatians 2:20 and please read 2Peter chapter 1 verses 2 through 9.
You are to prefer others above yourselves and are to be your brother’s keeper. Romans 13: 9,10 “Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.” If you are more concerned about yourself than helping others, you really will not get very far in your relationship with God. God takes care of His own, so you are free to help others!
The secular world teaches that you are to look out for yourself and that you are number one. They say if you do not look out for yourself, no one else will.
If you are a born again Christian, you are under command of the Lord Jesus to live your faith (not just believe). This requires you to speak your witness through confession of the Word that the Holy Spirit will give you and to apply spiritual principles that you know, at all times in all places. Can you call yourself a Christian, and not do what the Word says? Is this taking the name of God in vain?
When we belong to God, we are called Christians after our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are known by this name and it is not in name only, but it is acting on our belief. Belief is in the head and heart, but to be real there has to be an action. An action also involves our speech just like our Father God spoke the world into existence.
You are to take God’s Word as fact because it is! Why is it that people take everything else as fact except the Word of God. They say that they are believers and they think that God and His Word are a good thing, but they don’t think that it applies to their everyday life. They SAY that they have faith without knowing what faith really is!
Faith is trust, period, regardless of the circumstances or consequences. Faith is trust in God and in His Word. You must know the will of God which is His Word before you can have faith to believe. Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17
What one says he believes is not what he actually believes unless it is carried out in actual practice. The having comes after the believing! Faith is very important to God. The Bible says in Romans 14:23, that everything that is not of faith is sin and only faith pleases God because He has already finished all things through Christ at the cross. Hebrews 11:6 It has all been done in Christ and has already been given to you if you belong to God. You have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus and have been given everything that pertains to life and godliness. Ephesians 1;3, 2 Peter 1:3 All this comes through the knowledge of God and His Word.
Too much self is my original topic, but regardless of the topic it always involves faith. Actually, being so concerned about yourself takes you away from faith. Having faith in God is trusting Him to take care of you and your needs. Believing what He tells you in His Word is also trusting Him. You can know what He thinks because He had it written down for you and me.
You have an enemy who desires for you to turn inward towards yourself. This is called being self-centered! God loves His people. That is His heart and He desires to use you to reach others with the good news of what Jesus has done for them, and to feed people if needed, and to take care of the widow and the orphan. A person who has himself on his mind constantly will not care for others and will refuse this suggestion because he is too wrapped up in himself! Giving of yourself to others in aid is rewarding, but being self-centered causes you to not have feelings for what God loves. The fact is that you will have “you on your mind” instead of God. You will not have time for Him! Too much self is being selfish. If wrapped up with a bow, you would make a very small package. People who are the happiest are those who give their time and their labor for other people.
Because of your relationship with our Heavenly Father, you should have His heart on these matters. By being in fellowship with God through prayer and worship can change your outlook on life, and others will become more important to you. You are very dear to God; you are His hands and feet in the earth, and you are His mouthpiece.
Spend time with Jesus in His Word and you will become more interested in Him than in yourself. This will turn your focus toward other people that He loves. He is the living Word that put on flesh and came to earth to die for you. He is worthy! John 1:1,4,14
You can never have too much of Him!! He is Jesus, your Savior. He is our supreme example of selflessness.
This is faith cabin saying you are blessed-believe it. It is true.
Love and smiles ’til next time.
