BLOG 42                               BECAUSE OF LOVE

Because of love, God came to earth as our Savior, put on flesh, and died on a cross to save all people. Jesus was God in flesh. “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing the their tresspasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” 2Corinthians 5:19 The love of our heavenly Father motivates us to love one another. “We love Him, because he first loved us.” 1John 4:19 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 We wouldn’t know love if it were not for God’s love! “He that loves not, knows not God; for God is love.” 1John 4:8 …”He that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.” (also in 1John) “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1John 4:11 God doesn’t love us because we are lovely. He loves us because He is love.
If a man says he loves God, but hates his brother, he is a liar. How can he love God whom he can not see, and love not his brother whom he sees. 1John 4:20 This kind of love is emotional and doesn’t last. We choose to love. It is a choice, not a feeling. Our God chose to love us while we were sinners and to send His only Son to die on a cross to save all. Romans 5:8 People mistakenly associate love as feelings, but it is a decision that we make to love. Our God is our great example.
It is not the Hollywood kind of love, either! Here today; gone tomorrow. They seem to fall in and out of love many times as their feelings come and go. Although, there are exceptions, of many who really love each other and do stay married for a life-time; it is not the God kind of love. His kind of love is agape. Agape expresses the deep, and constant “love” and the interest of a perfect Being towards unworthy objects. (us before regeneration) From Vines Dictionary. In general, men and women can not love like this because they are moved by emotions and soul ties. Unregenerated man’s love is usually a “what can you do for me” kind of love. A true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ loves others from out of his spirit; the love that has been put there in his heart by the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5 What people call love is selfish and does not last because it is ruled by their emotions. Feelings are changing constantly. They go up and down like an elevator according to the situation a person is in. Don’t get me wrong, feelings are good because God has blessed us with them, but they are not to rule us. Only God’s word coming from the Spirit of God is to rule and influence us.
True love is not mushy, or weak; it is strong and balanced. Love does the right thing because it is the right thing to do. It is not moved by how a person feels. True love is a servant. You do whatever is required in the relationship. Many think it is fifty/fifty. No, it is whatever it takes to maintain the relationship. God gave His all, so that is what His children are supposed to do. We love like our heavenly Father loves. We must choose to love that unlovely person who tries to take advantage of us. Love is a choice!
In Vines Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, is stated, “love can be known only from the actions it prompts.” Love is an action! God’s love is seen in the gift of His Son. 1John 4:9 Obviously, this is not the love of complacency, or affection and it was not drawn out by any excellency in its objects (we were sinners). Romans 5:8 “It was an exercise of the divine will in deliberate choice, made without assignable cause save that which lies in the nature of God Himself.” “Love had its perfect expression among men in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Some people are like sandpaper, rough and hard to get along with. This is where our faith comes in strong, because we have to love others by faith. Faith is one of the gifts that we are blessed with when we are born again by the Spirit of God. See Galatians 5:22 & 23. When we live by the fruit of the spirit, the enemy has no access to us. The fruit of the spirit is one gift with nine parts that comes from and through the Holy Spirit. If a person is not born again, he does not possess this gift because he does not possess the Holy Spirit. He tries to live by his own good intentions, but this never works for long! This is why we need a Savior, we can make plenty of mistakes.
In Romans 5:5, “The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Jesus had to go back to heaven so the gift of the Holy Spirit could come and help us.
Christian love is not an impulse from feelings. It seeks the welfare of all, Romans 15:2, and works no ill to any, Ro. 13:8-10. Love seeks opportunity to do good to all men, and especially toward them that are of the household of the faith. Galatians 6:10 Take a look at 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible, it is called the “Love Chapter.” To paraphrase, love is greater than faith and hope. Though, we speak with the tongues of men and of angels, without love abiding in us, we are empty and shallow. Love suffers long, is kind and envies not, is not puffed up. Love thinks no evil, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked. Love rejoices in the truth; not in iniquity and bears all things, believes in all things, endures all things. Love never fails. God never fails; He is love. Without faith, you can not accept the love of God and without the love of God, it is impossible to truly love. The scriptures tell us that “faith (only) works by love.” Galatians 5:6 It is God’s love working through believers.
Jesus gives us the example to follow. He was beaten and mocked, and his beard was pulled out; he uttered not a word in his own defense. There were hundreds of Roman soldiers that spit in His face. He never answered His accusers. Who of us could do this, or would?
He was innocent and without sin, but he was able to die for mankind because of love. There is no greater love than a man lay down his life for his brothers. In Hebrews 12:2, we are told ….who for the joy set before him, endured the cross.
God is our avenger, he fights our battles if we don’t try to fight them ourselves. We do not get what we deserve. Because of sin, we deserve death, but instead He gives us his unconditional love. Do you love others unconditionally? We can only do this by faith.
Love caused God to come to earth himself, put on flesh and to die on a cross. Jesus was God manifested in the flesh. Because of love, Jesus paid a hefty price to redeem all mankind. Jesus said, “Father, if it be your will, let this cup pass from me.” He knew because of the sin that was going to be put on Him, He would be separated from His Father,. Not only the sins; but all sickness, disease, and poverty He would have to endure on the cross for all men.
God’s grace demonstrates His love. God’s grace is His unmerited favor towards us. Unmerited favor is something that can not be earned, nor is it deserved. It is God’s free gift to all mankind, but it does have to be received, by faith.
When Jesus redeemed us on the cross, not only was our salvation paid for; but everything that we will ever need in life. (past, present & future) He redeemed all by the shedding of His blood. It is a complete package; God never does anything halfway! Again I repeat, love is an action. Jesus put action to his love for mankind. He did not say, “Be warmed and filled” and leave us to fend for ourselves. No, he says “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5  The Bible says,…..”but by love, serve one another.” Galatians 5:13  Jesus is our greatest example of being a servant.
Man’s heart is evil and must be changed. The only way for God to change a person’s heart is to draw him by the Holy Spirit. Man has to be fed up with his own life and desire to change. He must come to the end of himself and surrender his life. The Bible says that the goodness of God leads men to repentance. Romans 2:4 Repentance is a change of mind and this brings about a change of heart. He was thinking one way and walking in that direction. Because of God’s love, he began to see things differently. This change caused the person to call on the only, true, living, God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to be saved from destruction. See Psalms 107:20
The Bible says that the hearts of men will grow cold, and not possess natural affection in the last days. It seems like this is upon us now! Schools teach that man was evolved from slime and that the ape is our brother. Just look around you, if you see a painting, you must know there was a person who painted it. Look at the skyscrapers, did they get there by themselves? Of course not! There had to be a builder.
Because God is love, He desired a family to pour out His love on. This is the reason that He created us and the worlds. It is very simple and it is the truth. Believe it, surrender and submit your life to Him. He is worthy to be praised.
“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.”
This is Faith Cabin saying you are blessed. Love and smiles ’til next time.
