Blog 13            The Bad News

To understand the Good News, we must first hear and understand the bad news
The bad news is how Adam and Eve rebelled against God.  They were told by God that they could freely  eat of any tree in the garden. except of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the center of the garden.  God told Adam and Eve that if they did eat of that tree, they would surely die.( you shall die)   God said “You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die”.  (Genesis 3:3)
God created a beautiful, perfect, garden for Adam and Eve to live in.  They had no worries,no lack, only peace and joy, and every good thing to eat. They had companionship with each other and a close relationship with God, their creator.  They were innocent, and naked.  God had covered them with His glory.  So that they did not know they were naked.   When God created Adam and Eve, He told them to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it”  ( To control the earth and  to fill the earth with Godly children.)  Their only requirement was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and of evil.  Also, God had given them dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over all the cattle, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.( every living thing that moves on the earth). (Genesis 1:26&28)   God had already given Adam and Eve dominion over Satan, who appeared as a serpent (snake) in the garden to Eve.  Satan stole their dominion that day.
Now Satan, the serpent, was more sly, cunning, and crafty, than any beast of the field  which God had made..  He was in the garden; and he tempted Eve to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and of evil telling her that she” surely shall not die.” Satan made Eve think that she didn’t have everything, and made her to believe that God was holding out on her.  Satan made Eve dissatisfied.   When really God had blessed she and Adam with everything.  Satan, our enemy, speaks to people in  their heads, and through their imaginations  Satan, the devil, is called the tempter.   In Genesis 3:6, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food , and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves coverings.” (Genesis 3:6,7)   They had lost God’s covering.  Adam and Eve had died spiritually, and could no longer relate to God.  Now, the only way they could relate to God was through their physical senses.   God is a Spirit, and does not relate to us through our senses.   God performed the first animal sacrifice and made skins to cover Adam and Eve’s nakedness.  This was a foreshadowing of Jesus, the Son of God, coming as the ultimate sacrifice to save mankind.
God sent Adam and Eve forth from the perfect garden to live by the sweat of their brow, because, they now knew of good and evil, and could eat of the tree of life, and live forever in that fallen state.
God told Satan that because he had done this, he would be cursed above every beast of the field, and that he would crawl on his belly, and eat dust all the days of his life. ( Genesis 3:14 )  God had a plan, the seed of woman would bruise Satan’s head  ( Genesis 3:15).
The Godhead decided that Jesus would be the one to come to earth for mankind and die,  So Jesus left his deity in heaven, and came to earth and put on flesh.  Really, Jesus was God in the flesh. Emanuel with us ( God with us.)
The good news is the death, burial, and resurrection of  the Lord Jesus Christ.  This is the center of the gospel.  The gospel is the GOOD NEWS.
Jesus defeated Satan at the cross, putting him to open shame,  (Colossians 2:15)  Jesus said ” It is finished” ( John 19:30)  Jesus restored all back to us that Satan had stolen in the garden.
When we believe on the Lord Jesus, and receive him as our Savior, we become born again of the Spirit of God. We become new creatures in Christ.  Our old man  has passed away.( 2 Corinthians 5:17)  When born again by the Spirit of God, we have a new covering.  We are now covered with the Lord Jesus’ blood.  WE PUT ON CHRIST..
As you can see, we must know what the bad news is before we can understand the importance of the “Good News.”  We were buried with Christ in  Baptism, and risen with him through Faith.
Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, all mankind were born with a dead spirit disconnected from God, our  creator.  Jesus said in John 3:7, “You must be born again.”
In Colossians 2:14, ” Jesus blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross”
When Jesus was crucified, Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross.  It read, ” Jesus of Nazareth The King of the Jews.”   The chief priests of the Jews wanted Pilate to change the title to read (that Jesus said) ” I am the King of the Jews.”  Pilate said, “What I have written, I have written.” (John 19:19,21,22)
In those days, when a man was put in prison, all his offenses, and ordinances that  were against him were listed  on a paper and put on the prison door.   When his time was served, the paper was given to him to show that the ordinances against him were fulfilled.
            This is the Good News!

Faith Cabin saying bye for now.   Love, Blessings, and Smiles..
